The Public Hearing held in the National Assembly Chambers in Belmopan held today July 19, 2017, began at  10:22 A.M, with two witnesses scheduled to appear before the Committee, Mr. Julio Valdez and Mr. Allen Whylie.

The first witness to appear before the Committee was Mr. Julio Valdez, Retired Superintendent of Police. Mr. Valdez was questioned based on an investigation team that he was leading investigating matters relating to the Immigration Department.

When the public hearing resumed after lunch, the second witness, Mr. Allen Whylie, Commissioner of Police was present before the Committee. Mr. Whylie was questioned based on several instances mentioned in the Visa Report, Passport Report and Nationality Report of the Auditor General’s findings.

All Members of the Committee were present at the public hearing, except for Senator Aldo Salazar. Therefore, Senator Lizarraga was nominated as Protem Chair. The meeting concluded at 2:54 P.M. The Senate Special Select Committee is scheduled to meet again next Wednesday, July 26, 2017, to continue its public hearing.
