Yesterday, July 6, 2017, the Senate convened in the Chamber of the National Assembly Building , Belmopan for a Special Sitting. The agenda consisted of six Motions that were adopted and 8 Bills that were brought from the House of Representative for approval . Those are:

  1. Caribbean Development Bank Placencia Peninsula Wastewater Management Project – Nutrient Fate and Transport Study – Loan Motion, 2017;
  2. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification of the Protocol to Amend Article 83 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas Establishing the Caribbean Community Including CARICOM Single Market and Economy Motion, 2017;
  3. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize to the Agreement Between the Government of Belize and the Government of the United Arab Emirates for Air Services Between and Beyond their Respective Territories Motion, 2017;
  4. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize to the Air Services Agreement Between the Government of Belize and the Government of the State of Kuwait Motion, 2017;
  5. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize to the Air Services Agreement Between the Government of Belize and the Government of the Republic of Singapore Motion, 2017; and
  6. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize to the Air Services Agreement Between the Government of Belize and the Government of Malaysia Motion, 2017;

The Meeting  was called to order at 10:13 A.M. At today’s meeting, all 6 government Senators were present along with the 4 social partners and 3 Opposition Senators. Senator Eamon Courtenay was absent today, however, he was replaced by Temporary Senator, Michel Chebat.

The Special Sitting was adjourned at 4:20 P.M.
