Belmopan City, Belize – May 28, 2025
The House of Representatives has concluded its debate on the 2025–2026 national budget after three days of intense and productive discussion. The debate began on Monday, May 26, and ended on Wednesday, May 28, at the National Assembly in Belmopan.
This year’s budget focused on national priorities such as infrastructure development, healthcare, education, economic growth, and climate resilience. Members of both the Government and the Opposition delivered their contributions, with Government representatives outlining key plans and priorities, while the Opposition offered critiques and raised questions on spending and accountability.
Throughout the sessions, the House saw a dynamic mix of detailed policy analysis, political back-and-forth, and occasional moments of humor and sharp wit that added color to the proceedings. While perspectives often differed, the debate remained respectful and centered on the shared goal of national development.
Now that the debate has come to a close, attention turns to the work ahead as the country prepares for the new fiscal year guided by the financial plans and priorities set out during these three days of deliberation.
