Belmopan, Belize — On April 30th, approximately 50 students from Christiline Gill SDA Primary School located in the scenic Corozal District made an exciting educational visit to the National Assembly of Belize. Currently being housed at the George Price Centre while the original building undergoes renovations.
The students were welcomed into the temporary parliamentary chambers, where they had the opportunity to observe the spaces where national decisions are made and learnt about the roles of Belize’s elected representatives. The visit offered a unique chance to connect their classroom studies with the real-life setting of Belize’s legislative process.
Guided through the experience by knowledgeable staff, the group explored the layout of the temporary Assembly and gained a better understanding of how laws are made and how the government functions on a day-to-day basis.
At the end of the tour, we had to test the brilliant minds inside the chambers, asking them difficult questions to see if they had grasped the information that was presented. And what do you know, these amazing students answered perfectly and won a token from the National Assembly to keep and remember their impactful visit.
Though the setting was temporary, the impact was lasting. The visit sparked curiosity, encouraged civic interest, and gave the young visitors a deeper appreciation for Belize’s democracy. It was a memorable day for the students of Christiline Gill SDA Primary, one filled with learning, inspiration, and a closer look at the heart of national leadership.
