Belmopan City, June 2nd, 2025 — The National Assembly of Belize welcomed bright young minds from three primary schools across the country on Thursday, May 29, 2025, for an educational and engaging visit that brought democracy to life in a fun and meaningful way.

The visiting schools included St. Augustine R.C. School from Stann Creek, Compassion School from Yo Creek, Orange Walk, and Arms of Love Primary School from San Ignacio. This special visit forms part of the National Assembly’s Outreach and Education strategy aimed at helping students better understand the role of Parliament and their place in Belize’s democratic process.

During the visit, students toured the chamber of the National Assembly, learned about the functions of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and participated in answering tough questions where they explored how laws are debated and passed. The experience allowed students to step into the roles of parliamentarians in a respectful and age-appropriate setting, creating a strong connection between theory and real-world governance.

The day was filled with learning, exploration, and teamwork as students engaged with the staff and asked thoughtful questions about parliamentary procedures and national leadership. Teachers and chaperones noted the educational value of the experience, which complements classroom instruction on civics and government.

This initiative was coordinated by the Communications, Education and Outreach Officer (CEOO) of the National Assembly and reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment to promoting civic education across all districts.

The National Assembly of Belize continues to encourage schools to take part in similar visits that allow students to explore the heart of their democracy in a fun, informative, and hands-on environment.
