Yesterday, May 31, 2017, the Senate Special Select Committee Public Hearing held in the Chamber of the  National Assembly of Belize in Belmopan, resumed with it’s public hearing after being postponed on May 24, 2017. There were two scheduled witnesses that appeared before the committee, Cherie Nisbet and Alvarine Burgess.

The first to take the witness stand was Ms. Cherie Nisbet, former Belize Ambassador to Taiwan. The Committee interrogated Ms. Nisbet hoping that she would bring clarity on the Wong Hong Kim scandal.

The second witness, Mrs. Alavrine Burgess, former “Facilitator/Agent”,  appeared before the Committee also to give evidence of her alleged connections with Ministers of Government in the facilitating with recommendation for visas.

The hearing commenced at 10:20 A.M, and was adjourned at 3:15 P.M.

All Committee Members were present at the hearing, Chairman- Senator Aldo Salazar,  Senator Carla Barnett, Senator Elena Smith, Senator Markhelm Lizarraga, Senator Ashley Rocke, and Senator Eamon Courtenay.
