Today, December 9, 2016, the House of Representative held its final Meeting for the year 2016. The meeting began at 10:21 A.M. in the Chamber of the National Assembly Building. Absent were the Right Honourable  Dean Barrow Prime Minister, Honourables Gaspar Vega and Julius Espat.

Today’s Meeting was a first of its kind since the Right Honourable Prime Minister was absent, the acting Prime Minister who is the Deputy, the Honourable Patrick Faber, was charged with the responsibility to lead the House.

From the Agenda today, there were three Motions that were introduced and passed in one sitting. Also, there were seven Bills that were introduced, namely:

  1. General Revenue Supplimentary Appropriation 2016/2017 (No. 2) Bill, 2016;
  2. Treasury Bills (Amendment) (No.3) Bill, 2016;
  3. Income and Business Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2016;
  4. Private Pensions (Amendment) Bill, 2016;
  5. Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters (Amendment) Bill, 2016;
  6. Referendum (Amendment) Bill, 2016; and
  7. Non-Governmental Organisation (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

From among those Bills, three of the Bills were introduced and passed in one sitting. They are:

  1. General Revenue Supplimentary Appropriation 2016/2017 (No. 2) Bill, 2016;
  2. Treasury Bills (Amendment) (No.3) Bill, 2016; and
  3. Income and Business Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Numerous questions were raised by Members of the Opposition. A total of 9 Bills passed today.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:49 P.M.
