On 12 May 2021, the Senate Standing Orders Committee and the Senate House Committee met respectively in the Committee Room of the National Assembly in Belmopan.  The meeting was specifically for an introduction to Members of their respective Committees. Nevertheless, each Member had the opportunity to share brief remarks on the potential scope of work of the Committee, the challenges/issues they face, and the changes they would like to make for the Senate.

The Standing Orders Committee met first and its Members are the Honourable Carolyn Trench Sandiford, President of the Senate and Chairlady of the S.O. Committee; the Honourable Senator Collet Montejo; the Honourable Senator Michael Peyrefitte; and the Honourable Senator Osmany Salas. They were all present at today’s meeting.

The House Committee met second, and its Members are the Honourable Carolyn Trench Sandiford, President of the Senate and Chairlady of the House  Committee; the Honourable Senator Erica Jang; the Honourable Senator Michael Peyrefitte; and the Honourable Senator Kevin Herrera. However, at today’s meeting Senator Herrera was absent, therefore, Senator Osmany Salas was his designate.
