The Senate met today, 5th August 2020, for a Special Sitting of the Senate in the Chambers of the National Assembly Building in Belmopan with all Members being present. The meeting began with a word of prayer by Senator Rev. Ashley Rocke. On today’s agenda there were 4 Bills that were brought from the House of Representatives. Those Bills were:
1. Immigration (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
2. Quarantine (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
3. Hotels and Tourist Accommodation (Amendment) (No.2) Bill, 2020.
4. Electronic Transactions (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
All 4 Bills were passed without amendment. As well, there was one (1) Motion that was adopted and that is the Period of Public Emergency in the Southside of Belize City Declared by Proclamation of the Governor-General Motion, 2020.
There was a short intervention made by Senator Elena Smith. The Meeting was adjourned at 1:30 P.M.
