Today, Friday, July 25th, 2025, the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) convened for the first meeting of the Committee for this new parliamentary session.
The meeting began with the Honourable Speaker Woods inviting members to nominate a Chairperson. Senator Janelle Chanona, who previously held the post, was unanimously re-elected to continue serving as Chairperson of the Caucus.
The WPC is a non-partisan, bi-cameral group within the National Assembly of Belize, composed of women from both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Its primary goal is to promote gender equality, empower women in leadership, and support the development of gender-sensitive legislation and policy.
