Today, 3rd December 2021, the House of Representatives convened in the Chambers of the National Assembly Building in Belmopan, shortly after 10:00 A.M. Presiding over the sitting today was the Honourable Marconi Leal, Deputy Speaker, in the absence of the Honourable Valerie Woods, Speaker of the House, who is out of the country at the moment on official duties.
On the days agenda were 5 Bills for Second Reading which were the, Customs and Excise Duties (Amendment) Bill, 2021; The Belize Bank Limited Undertaking (Belize Bank Corporation Limited Operations) Vesting Bill, 2021; Certified Institutions (Children’s Reformation) (Repeal) Bill, 2021; Juvenile Offenders (Amendment) Bill, 2021; and Families and Children (Amendment) Bill, 2021. Also there were 5 Bills for Introduction which were the General Revenue Supplementary Appropriation (2021/2022) (No. 2) Bill, 2021; Patents (Amendment) Bill, 2021; Trade Marks (Amendment) Bill, 2021; Law Revision (Amendment) Bill, 2021; and Sugar Industry (Amendment) Bill, 2021. The 10 Bills passed at today’s Sitting.
There were 3 Papers that were Ordered to lie on the Table. Those were Social Investment Fund – Audited Financial Statements for Year Ended March 31, 2021; The Nineteenth Annual Report of the Contractor General – February 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021; and Supplementary Appropriation (No.2) Schedule for Fiscal Year 2021/2022.
As well there was 1 Motion that was debated and adopted which was the Caribbean Development Bank – Natural Disaster Management – Immediate Response Loan – Hurricanes Eta and Iota – US$2.5 million Loan Motion, 2021.
Several Members spoke on the adjournment on matters of public importance. The meeting adjourned at 6:05 P.M.
